One of the most important parts of any sewing studio is a cutting table. I love those large tables in professional cutting rooms, however in my home studio I would never have room for one of those.  I’m very lucky to have a dedicated sewing/crafting studio in my home, but it’s not overly large. (especially with all the stash I have stuffed in there and SMAD…..shhhhh, it’s our secret).

At this point I’m sure you’re wondering what “nesting cutting” tables could possibly mean, right?  Well this is just sort of what happened unintentionally when I decided I wanted (a) cutting table.   When I decided to purchase a cutting table I did my research.  I wanted something that would fold down and roll out of the way when I wasn’t using it.  BUT, being me, I can’t just stop with a “stock” table,  I have to customize things.  (really lucky, hubby is SUPER handy)  I purchased my Sew Essentials cutting table from Joann’s.  It was inexpensive and was on sale to boot!!  Unfortunately I couldn’t find the link to share with you.  This one is a similar table.  This one has one foldout leg on each side and mine has two on each side.  It may still be available in stores, but I didn’t find it on Joann’s website.  Here comes the customization part:  My husband fitted the three piece table top with Masonite!!  It made such a great difference and now I don’t worry about messing up the white top with pencil, markers or anything else.  It also weighed down the table a little bit which makes it more sturdy.  I love this table and highly recommend it.

BUT I didn’t stop there. While hunting around on CL I came across another cutting/storage table.  It has a 1 inch grid pattern on the table surface which is very handy when crafting.  I didn’t find any labels, so unfortunately I have know idea which store it came from.  It was in perfect condition and as a BONUS, it nests under my other cutting table!! With a little hubby modification, it’s holds my Embroidery Machines and all their accessories.

On side 1 of the table there’s a door with 2 shelves. Hubby beefed up the top shelf to support a heavy machine.

On side 2 there were 3 drawers that were not very useful so hubby modified them. He removed one of the drawers so a large machine would fit on the bottom and repositioned another to accommodate more machine accessories.

Here they are “nested” together.

All in all, I’m very happy with my “nesting tables” configuration in my studio.  I like the fact that I can get them out of the way when I’m not using them or open one or both for lots of cutting/crafting space.
