For my second “look” for the “One Pattern Many Looks” Contest, I chose a striped Chambray fabric which is super denim friendly. It has a little bit of crispness to it and think worked well in this style.
This pattern has only a few pieces and has a very simple construction. It does however have a bias bound neckline which can sometimes be challenging. I chose not to use the prepackaged bias tape method that this pattern was drafted for. I chose to cut off the 3/8″ seam allowance and bind the neckline in another way. For this version I decided to add pockets. I have a method for perfectly matching pockets for striped, plaids or for printed fabric which I detailed in a tutorial. Picture Tutorial: Perfectly Matched Pockets
This jacket went together just as easily as the lace version. The big difference between this jacket and the earlier Lace Version is that I chose to do lots of double needle top stitching to give it a more casual look. I used a hook and eye closure on this version only to comply with the rules of not adding anything that the other version didn’t include. I will add belt loops and a simple belt later.
