Singer Re-branded the Quantum Stylist 9960!!

Looks like Singer has re-branded the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 into a New Model!!  One of the members of the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 Fans Facebook Group posted about finding this information, so I started to do some research….Here’s what I found:

It sure has the same unique look and shape of the 9960!! Singer is known for re-branding current machine models by giving them a new name and model # usually with a change of color.  I suspect this is done to offer a successful machine model to another vendor without discontinuing the previous model or infringing on negotiated contracts. There are a few differences between the two models, however nothing mechanically as far as I could tell.  It doesn’t appear to come with the same value added foot collection and it has a red face plate instead of gray.  This model is offered through Sams Club at a competitive price point.

So if you’re thinking about purchasing the Singer 8060 instead of the Singer 9960, please check out my YouTube Channel for a whole series of videos to help you get started in the Wonderful World of Sewing!!

Are either the of these good for a beginner? I hate to buy a machine that I can’t grow into. On the other hand, I hate to waste money on something I will never need. I am a complete beginner. 50 years old. Thank you.

Hi Lani! The Singer 9960 and the 8060 are great beginner machines with lots of room for growth. They are the same machine with different face plates. They’re loaded with features like the autothreader, autocutter, and drop in bobbin like many higher end machines. It also depends what you’re interested in learning to sew. Many use this machine for quilting and bag making, however I’m mostly a garment sewist. This machine can open up a whole new world of learning and creating! Jump in and have fun!! Hope this helps answer your question.

    Good evening,

I have a question. I’ve been looking for it everywhere and can’t find even one article about it. What is the difference between Singer 8060 and 9960? Please if you know what’s the difference could you let me know? I woyod like to get a well working sewing machine as I already do have some experience and this Singer caught my eye so I just wanna know what is the difference so I can buy what ever works better for me in the price range. Thank you so much.

Hi Katherina! They’re the same machine except for the face plate. I’ve been told they also come with all the same accessories. They’re also both still on sale. Good luck with your decision. It’s a great machine. Singer 8060
