Growing up, my Father was BIG into exploring and buying new sewing tools for me. He always made sure I had the latest and greatest tools to make the creative process easier. I still have my original OLFA Rotary Cutters he bought me from back when they first came out on the market.
I recently decided to try another PDF pattern that I found on Pinterest. I had used a PDF pattern only one time before when I made the Annika Skirt as a pattern tester for Pattern Review. It was a simple A-line Skirt with only 2 pattern pieces so it wasn’t too involved, but I do remember all the scissor cutting being somewhat time consuming. I came across a tool called the Scissor Mouse from Westcott that worked like a charm to cut out my PDF pattern pieces for assembly. I don’t think it’s a new tool on the market, but it’s new to me.
It was easy to use and cut with remarkable accuracy. I used this cutter against a ruler next to each cutting line and sliced the paper with one swift stroke. I found it much easier and quicker using a straight edge with this tool instead of freehand.
By applying slight pressure, it rolls along while cutting with perfection. Using this tool for cutting the PDF pieces definitely made this process faster. On the front of the Scissor Mouse, there’s a measurement guide. Follow the -0- to align with the cutting line of the pattern.
I give this easy to use, inexpensive cutting tool a BIG thumbs up for cutting PDF patterns! Hope you find this review helpful and give it a try, especially if you’d like to venture into the wonderful world of PDF patterns that are offered on the market today!!
