This is the time of year that we all spend time reflecting on the passed year…..Summarize our accomplishments and make a list of new goals for next year. Here are a few of my 2019 accomplishments:
- Getting my new website up and running was a huge undertaking and accomplishment for me and was met with great reviews. I love hearing how easy it is to go to my site and find a specific video or foot review that someone wants to learn about. That’s always been my main goal. To help others learn and get inspired to give new things or techniques a try.
- I’m proud that my YouTube Channel, Roxanne Stitches has continued to grow and is closing in on 10,000 subscribers!! That couldn’t have happened without the support and kindness from my fans, followers and subscribers. Thank You!!
- I put out 2 NEW videos this year with new lighting and in HD quality!! Seam Guides: Video Part 18 and The Ruffler Attachment: Video Part 19 in my ongoing video series featuring the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960. If you haven’t checked them out, please do.
- I brought back the Singer QS Facebook Group. I had found that with all of us being surrounded by so much negativity, we needed a place to come together and share ideas and makes with one another is a supportive, friendly virtual environment. It’s continued to grow and I’m so proud of the talent shared daily in the group. Thank You!!
Now what does 2020 hold in store for Roxanne Stitches…..
I’ve never been one to make a New Year Resolution. Life is busy and hectic enough to feel like a failure if you don’t meet some big unreasonable goal you set for yourself. Who needs the added pressure of that, right?? Small goals are more my speed. Instead, I’m planning to host monthly Sew-A-Longs in the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960 Fans Facebook Group. This will be the perfect opportunity for members to try something new and push their skills to a new level. This is all still in the early planning stage, but the interest has been remarkable. I was going to come up with a 12 month schedule, but decided that I will gauge interest as we go along. I really want there to be something for everyone at some point along the way for each member to look forward too. My personal goal is to design and create my own original pattern for a Sew-A-Long or 2. After all, my background is in production pattern making so it sort of makes sense. Another thing that is definitely planned and already in the works are More Videos!! So, look for those too!!
Now on a personal note: This year has been rough because I lost 2 very special people in my life. My BFF Randy who was a major support in my life. His loss was very unexpected and heartbreaking for myself and his family. He was only 51. Such a loss has left a major hole in my heart. I’m miss his laugh, his kind nature and honest sense of humor. The other was someone I met when I graduated high school. She was a special mentor in my life and someone I could always count on to give me honest advice even if it meant pointing out a mistake. She would always say, “brush it off and continue to more forward.” Loss is part of life, so as I move forward I will take the time to remember the fun times and hold onto those fabulous memories. We never know when time will run out, so make sure those who are dear to you, know it.
Now lets get out there and grab 2020!! Let’s embrace it with a new positive energy and renewed creative passion!!
You are amazing. And so sorry for your loss. Stay positive bc we need you:)
Thanks you so much for the kind comment Dyane. I rarely share anything private but the support has been wonderful.
May I ask a question about the Quantum Stylist? Can you use elastic thread in this machine? I’ve recently bought one but can’t find the answer in the guide.
Hi Lisa. I’ve read that some people use elastic thread in the bobbin. It’s hand wound onto the bobbin. I’ve not tried it personally.
Thank you. I’ve been thinking about making a shirred waist simple skirt. It requires elastic thread and I don’t want to mess up my wonderful machine. Thank you for your time. Love your videos !
Happy Sewing Lisa!!
