Hi Everyone!! Today is an exciting day for me personally, but NOT for what you think!! Don’t worry…..I’m not going to get all political on you even though I do hope you got out to Vote. It was one year ago today, on November 3rd, that I made a big decision to reignite my YouTube Channel, Roxanne Stitches and continue my journey forward to learn, teach and try new things. That day, I posted a new video for the first time in almost 2 years. NOW here we are…..20 videos later just in one year!! WOW!! My website also got a bit of a makeover which I’m really Loving!! More additions and changes to come…..
We all make priorities in life and being creative has always been very important to me. Creating has helped me through some really dark times like these past few years. I always remember a friend from college saying, “You always make time for what you Reeeeeally want to do.” Those words have always resonated with me. Last year, I realized that my channel continued to grow and receive new questions and comments even though I hadn’t posted a new video in a long while. So….it was time for me to “make time” to get back to what I enjoyed doing…….Creating New videos to teach people how to use their sewing machines. I actually started my passion for creating video back in 2013. None of us knew back in November that just a few short months later we would be in the throws of a global pandemic and sewing machines would be Front and Center!!
I’ll be very candid that it’s been a turbulent year full of ups and downs for me. But looking back, I can honestly say that there have been way more ups for me than downs. I think it’s all part of how I look at things too. Some see just the losses and downs and I choose to see the bright spots. Those spots have been how I grew over this year. If you’re one of my regular followers you know I’ve made some big decisions recently. One was to move past video exclusively on the Singer QS 9960 and Evolve my Facebook Group into a Sewing Collective. I moved into more product and pattern reviews in addition to “how to” sewing technique videos, That was the right choice for me personally. I went as far as I could go with that machine and decided to explore other brands that interested me. I understand some people were disappointed, but I’m not sure why. I opened the conversation up to All brands of sewing machines AND continue to Love the Singer Quantum Stylist 9960!! Now we can enjoy and share More!! I’m enjoying my “new to me Pfaff’s”. YES!! That’s plural I’ve recently purchased 2 preloved Pfaff Sewing Machines!! The most recent one is pictured above, so you can expect to be hearing a lot about THAT machine!! It’s Amazing!!
I’ll be doing a full year wrap up next month of all the things I learned and made, but I wanted to share a couple of other highlights that I’m really proud of. I wouldn’t have grown as much as I have without your support as my readers, subscribers, followers or fans. I always appreciate the kind comments, support and encouragement you send me.
One of the goals I achieved this year was to be selected as a pattern tester for an Indie Brand I believe in, Sinclair Patterns. Not only was I a tester for the Alana Dress (right) from Sinclair Patterns, but I also tested the Monterey Hoodie (left) with that brand. Both were great experiences in which I continued to grow. I hadn’t sewn for my Son in a number of years and I was happy to add that to my list of accomplishments. I also have something great Coming Soon that will be another first for me!! Stay tuned.
So……Thanks for stopping by today and reading a little bit about why today is special to me personally. I’m excited to be moving on to a new machine, exploring all it’s options and sharing this journey with you too! Be on the lookout for more New Content!! I also invite you to join our Facebook Group, Roxanne Stitches Sewing Collective, if you like to create and share your work. We’d love to have you!! Thanks again for reading. I always appreciate your kind support and will be sharing more great content with you soon.
Can’t wait to follow along on your journey!
Hi Joen! Thanks!! I’m excited too.
Ut us wonderful that despite the challenges and tension of 2020 you have launched new adventures. I have a Pfaff Creative Performance and love it to bits.
Thanks so much Wendy! It’s all about how we choose to view things. Ups and downs are normal and I will keep bringing the light. Glad to hear you’re loving your CP. I remember all the excitement when the first came out. Enjoy!!
