Hi Everyone! After my review of the Singer Sew-It-Goes Sewing Essentials Box, I received a few questions about how I choose to organize all of my sewing tools. As many of you know, I’m a professional pattern maker specializing in women’s special occasion and bridal fashion. Back in 2013, I shared an article called “Tools of the Trade” where I shared the tools I use professionally. It’s still pretty uncomplicated and you can read about it at the link above. I like to have all my tools out on my cutting table at all times. So I thought I’d answer this question by sharing a short video reviewing the organizer I’ve found to be useful. I love anything that organizes my supplies and keeps my tools neat in my studio. The best part is that I can move the whole thing off the table when I need to and it’s inexpensive.
Check out my short video below for my review and details on this great organizer:
This organizer has a great amount of storage built into the unit. It’s perfect for my small cutting tools, small rulers and marking pens. It also has some handy compartments for smaller items like pins, tape measures & other supplies. I don’t like things to roll around while I’m working and possibly fall on the floor. I take good care of my tools and they’ve been with me for many many years. Dropping a pair of my scissors is not an option. That will ruin a good pair in a second and I don’t like to take that chance.
I’m pretty fussy about straight pins and not having them end up on the floor. A pin in the foot or in the doggie’s mouth is NOT and option. I modified one of the swing out drawers in this organizer with a magnet to keep my pins handy BUT secure. It’s inexpensive and it works!! I also added a piece of foam to the bottom of the back sections.
