Hi!  Happy Monday!  I have a NEW fun top to share with you today.  This is the Jaylen Top, and it’s a brand new pattern by Sonia Estep Designs.  This was another NEW design that caused a frenzy in the testing group when the designer shared the “sneak peek” several weeks ago.  Twist tops are still very much on trend in fashion and this is a great option.  It’s super flattering and a quick sew.  It looks a bit complicated, but couldn’t be easier.  Let me tell you more about my twist top adventures…..

This was not my first twist style top, so when I saw the sneak peek, I knew I wanted to participate in this test.  Several years ago, I made McCall Pattern #4986.  This was the first twist top I made and really liked the look.  The fabrication is a poly/span mesh that is semi transparent. Very light and flowy. This twist has more of an empire waist and fell open at the bottom portion so it was worn more like a vest or jacket with a cami underneath.   If you’d like to read more about this pattern, click HERE for my post, “Animal Print with a Twist”.

The Jaylen twist falls lower on the hips for a more elongated silhouette.  I think it looks very flattering on me especially paired with my slim skirt. The top has only 3 pieces and a neckline band.  Although it looks a bit complicated to construct, it couldn’t be easier.  I’d say this is a beginner friendly pattern.  I used a combination of my conventional sewing machine and my serger for construction.

As with all Sonia Estep Designs patterns, there are multiple options included with the pattern purchase.  This pattern has 2 necklines, a low and subtle scoop.  There are also 4 different sleeve options.  Sleeveless tank, short, 3/4 length and long sleeves versions.  I made subtle scoop neckline and the 3/4 sleeve option.  I made my usual size 12 which is my size in this brand.

The good news is that the Jaylen Twist Top is on SALE at 50% off it’s normal price for the New Pattern launch.  The bad news is that it’s only on SALE for 24 hours.  So get it before 10am EST on 6/8/21 before it goes back to it’s regular price.  This pdf pattern includes a full tutorial and all the standard printing formats such as AO, E2E, Overlap, and projector.  My favorite format is E2E because it’s so quick and easy.  Head on over to the Sonia Estep Designs site and check out all the Jaylen tester photos.  They all look great!
