Hi Everyone!  I’m back with another first for me.   As a Special Thank You Gift for all your support and kindness over this difficult year for all of us, I wanted to share my first FREE pdf Pattern with all of you.  I hope you love it as much as I do!!

I’ve been exploring a new technique lately.  Machine Applique!!  I saw a quilting pattern online and thought I would try to interpret it as an applique pattern and see if I could do it.  Well it worked and it turned out so cute that I thought I’d share the pattern here with all of you to make your own!  I made mine into a pillow, but you could do this technique on towels, napkins, tablecloth, table runner or even a Christmas tree skirt.  I would just size down the pattern depending on what item you’d like to put this applique on.  Skies the limit with this Whimsical Tree Applique Design!

Here’s the original design that was my inspiration.  It’s a paper pieced quilt pattern I saw on my Instagram feed.  It’s a design by Karla Alexander called, “Crazy Christmas Trees”.  Isn’t it delightful??  She teaches how to create this design in her YouTube video HERE.  Please check it out.

I had never tried something like this before, but I had a feeling it would work out fine.  It even turned out better than I thought because I was able to incorporate some fancy decorative stitches from my new Singer C430 sewing machine into this design.

The second piece of the puzzle was a little trickier to actually figure out how to share the pattern with you all.  I had to learn a new computer program or should I say, relearn a program that I used years ago when I was a textile designer/drafter.  I had to dig back into my brain archive and figure it all out.

This will definitely open up a whole new world to me now that I can share my original patterns.  More Free Patterns for you!!

Below is the fabric I selected to use for this project.  This 5″square precut pack is from Pineapple Fabrics.  It has perfectly matched prints for my project and purchasing this pack made it so easy for me to get right to work without having to buy all the prints separately.  (2 of each of the 12 different prints)  This is great quality fabric and shipped with lightning speed.  This was my first order with this brand, but won’t be my last.  It came packaged with care, came with a free pattern for a cosmetic bag and included a printed Thank You note.  Details matter friends!!  There was very small draw back with my selection though.  I had to piece together 2 of my fabric pieces to make sure it was large enough to cut out my patterns pieces.  That was my own fault though.  Just wanted you to be aware that I had  a “make it work” moment when using theses precut 5″ squares.

If I’ve peaked your interest into giving this machine applique project a try, head over to my YouTube Channel HERE, to view the Video Tutorial.  It will walk you step by step to create your own Whimsical Tree Applique.  Don’t forget to get your FREE copy of my 1st pattern above.  Enjoy and thank you for your support and kindness!
