Hi All!  I did it again and applied to be a tester for Sinclair Patterns and got accepted.  As soon as I saw the line drawings for the new pattern I couldn’t resist.  It’s just a simple dress/top pattern with a lovely, flattering twist on the front waistline.  Twists seem to be popular in fashion right now so this is right on trend.  I made the peplum top version but I added a little extra flair to my peplum.  That’s the great thing about sewing for ourselves, we can modify our makes to suit our taste and most flattering to our individual figures.  This is a very quick sew with only 4 pieces, front bodice, back bodice, sleeve and peplum.  If you’re looking for a quick, satisfying “Victory Sew”, The Nyoka Pattern is for You!!

With the New Year being just a couple of days away, I didn’t have time for a video review of this new design.  So I’ll share my tips for this top here.  I stabilized the front v neckline, shoulders, back neckline and hem of peplum with 1/2″ fusible tricot.  I’ve spoken about it in another video and how great this tip is to help keep your knit fabrics smooth and stable for sewing.  The neckline has a simple facing sewn flat and turned twice to the inside and top stitched.  Makes for a clean, professional finish.  The sleeves are set in flat as well as the front and back peplums.  Then the entire side seam is sewn closed.  So, so easy.  If you’re a beginner, this is a great pattern for you.  Great news too!  The Nyoka Top/Dress pattern is on SALE right now so don’t miss out on another great Sinclair Pattern!

Normally I would have sewn portions of this garment on my serger, but I had an accident during testing and injured my hand.  My husband had to finish sewing up the side seams of my test garment to make the deadline.  I thought at that point I would have to drop out, but luckily for me, the final photo deadline was moved back and I was able to finish on time.  I sewed this entire garment on my sewing machine because I wasn’t able to thread my serger or coverstitch for this project.  My hand was still a bit swollen and didn’t have the control of my fingers to thread my machines.

I always get so many kind comments about my photo background.  No, this isn’t my home.  It’s a beautiful home a few blocks from my home.  The trees are so majestic that I love this as my back drop for photos.  The owners have noticed us on occasion, but don’t seem to mind.  It’s very peaceful under that canopy and that makes me smile for the photos.  Don’t forget to get your Nyoka on Sale HERE.
