Hi Everyone! I got the chance to be part of a promotion for the Mandy Top and Dress with Sonia Estep Designs now that I’m part of their testing team. This brand is quickly becoming my favorite pdf pattern brand for a variety of reasons. This top pattern is probably my favorite easy top pattern I’ve sewn in a while. It’s so comfortable and fits just right with no pattern alterations. It’s the perfect basic pattern that isn’t so basic. Great for under a jacket or cardi and can be dressed up or down with shorts or jeans. I’m always looking for business casual pieces and this one hit the nail on the head. It’s another quick easy make that is already a TNT for me!
This version of the Mandy Top and Dress Pattern is the most simple out of all the different options. The other versions have a beautiful tie and drape which is on my list to sew very soon. Truth be told, when I signed up for this promo, I had planned to make the draped dress version out of a beautiful So Sew English print but I didn’t have enough fabric. I had the fabric in mind for another design and only purchased 2 yards. I could have done the draped top version, but I really wanted a dress out of that fabric. Decisions….decisions. So I decided to use my favorite print for this plain top version. This is my 3rd top out of this fabric. I purchased 3 yards of this fabric years ago for another dress and ended up making these 3 tops. Yes, I change my mind often. Isn’t that the great thing about sewing for ourselves? Yes it is!!
So I decided to use my favorite print for this top since I had just enough left for this make. Anyone that knows me is aware that I love the “blues”. Below are the 3 tops I made with this fabric. The first photo on the left is the Sienna Dolman from Sinclair Patterns. The center top is the Nyoka Pattern also from Sinclair Patterns. You can read more about each of these “makes” by clicking on the highlighted links. The photo on the right is the Mandy Top. All great patterns.
Here’s a photo of the draped version of the Mandy Dress Pattern. I’ve included this photo here on the right from the SED website so you can see how great it looks. It’s a pretty amazing design that looks great on all body types. The best part is that it’s on SALE today only at 50% off. Make sure to head on over to Sonia Estep Designs and check out all the other beautiful versions of this versatile pattern. There’s a long sleeve version, plain top and dress and the amazing draped top and dress patterns all included.
The Mandy is a great pattern so don’t miss out on this great SALE. It’s beginner friendly and I used my conventional sewing machine to sew this entire garment. I see many more of these simple tops in my future as well as the beautiful draped verion of the dress. Now off to browse for more fabric and this time I will make sure I have enough!!
